What a franchise buyer in Vancouver is entitled to
Disclosure is a statutory right here
Vancouver has franchise-specific legislation — the Franchises Act, which requires the franchisor to deliver a disclosure document at least 14 days before you sign anything or pay any money. Late or missing disclosure can give a buyer a statutory right to rescind, and that right runs on a deadline, so it is worth knowing the date the document actually arrived.
Franchises Act →The franchisor still has to approve you
A resale is bought from the existing franchisee, but essentially every franchise agreement makes transfer conditional on the franchisor’s consent — and often on a transfer fee, the buyer completing training, and the premises meeting the current build standard. Those conditions sit outside the purchase agreement and are the most common reason a franchise resale slips its closing date.
