How do I find a float spa for sale in Canada?

Search listing sites under wellness, spa and health categories as well as the word float, save the search, then reach out to brokers and to studio owners directly. Ask early what equipment, lease and client memberships come with the sale.

Float spas, the studios that rent out tanks or pods for floating in warm salt water, are a small corner of the wellness world. There are not many of them in any one city, and an owner who wants to sell often does so quietly so clients and staff are not unsettled. A search therefore works best when you try several routes at once rather than waiting for a listing titled “float spa”.

Search the categories owners actually use

Many float studios are listed under spa, wellness, health and beauty, or even fitness and recovery. Try each of those words with “float”, “flotation” and “sensory deprivation”, and save the searches so new listings reach you. Read each listing for what is included: the tanks, the shower and reception rooms, the booking software and the retail shelf. Our guide to buying a spa covers the day spa side.

Use brokers and the trade

A business broker who handles wellness or personal-service businesses may know of a studio that is quietly for sale. Tell the broker what you want and how you plan to pay. Trade associations, equipment suppliers and the people who service tanks also hear when an owner is tired. Introduce yourself honestly and ask whether they would pass your name along.

Approach an owner directly

If a studio you admire is not listed, a short, polite note asking whether the owner would ever talk is fair. Promise discretion. Do not ask about revenue on the first contact. Talk about the studio, the team and how the owner sees the next few years.

Ask these things first

  • How many tanks or pods are there, how old are they, and are any financed or leased?
  • Does the lease run long enough, and will the landlord consent to a transfer?
  • What happens to prepaid packages and memberships?
  • Will the owner stay on for a handover?
