Church’s Texas Chicken publishes no Canadian costs or fees. The figures on its investment page are international and not Canada-specific, so none is shown here; the franchise disclosure document governs.

What Church’s publishes, and what it does not

Church’s franchising site is built for international development. The cost and fee figures on its investment page are international, are not labelled as Canadian, and are in a currency other than the Canadian dollar, so this page does not repeat them and does not treat them as the cost of a Canadian restaurant. The page says the figures summarize some franchisees’ experience in some of the countries the brand operates in, and that “A more country-specific set of estimates will be provided to you during the franchise approval process”. Church’s does not publish Canadian costs or fees on the pages we read (read Oct 22, 2026).

Who the franchisor is looking for

Church’s states that “We always do multi-restaurant development agreements”, and its FAQ says “at least multi-unit retail business ownership is required”, with multi-unit restaurant experience with a portfolio of brands preferred. A Canadian trade-press interview on the franchisor’s site says it looks for investors with a well-established multi-unit restaurant business and a demonstrated ability to select and secure quality real estate for restaurant development. For someone buying an existing restaurant, that is a reason to ask what the franchisor will require of a buyer who is new to the system, since the pages we read describe new development and say nothing about resales.

Buying an existing Church’s

Church’s does not say on the pages we read that it sells existing restaurants, and the listings below are advertised by their sellers. Whether the franchisor must approve a transfer, and on what terms, is something to confirm in the franchise agreement. See who has to approve a franchise resale and what a transfer fee is.

Financing

Church’s FAQ says it does not directly engage with the franchisee to source financing, though its team will assist with the business plans a financial institution requires, “to the best of our abilities”. For how Canadian franchise purchases are generally financed, see can a franchise purchase be financed?

Where Church’s is in Canada

A June 2022 article on the franchisor’s site says Church’s had “more than 50 locations from coast-to-coast in Canada” at that time, and that from around 2018 it began focusing on other parts of British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan, with Manitoba and the Maritimes next on the radar. That is more than four years old and is not a current count. Deavo’s Church’s listings on Oct 20, 2026 were in Ontario (4).

Disclosure law where Church’s is listed

Ontario, the only province with Church’s listings, has a franchise disclosure statute. Where the statute applies, late or missing disclosure can give a buyer a statutory right to rescind, and that right runs on a deadline. In Ontario, section 5(7)(a) of the Arthur Wishart Act (Franchise Disclosure), 2000 says the disclosure duty does not apply to “the grant of a franchise by a franchisee” if all of its listed conditions hold, including that the grant “is not effected by or through the franchisor”, so buying an existing restaurant from its franchisee may come with no disclosure document; see what disclosure a resale buyer gets. Where a disclosure document is given, it is where to look for the Canadian fees and costs that Church’s site does not state; keep the date you receive it.

Ontario

Arthur Wishart Act (Franchise Disclosure), 2000 — the franchisor must deliver a disclosure document at least 14 days before you sign anything or pay any money.
