Popeyes’ site is a North American page set. Its cost FAQ answer was collapsed and did not render in the text read, so a null row means not found on the page read, not that no such fee exists.

What Popeyes publishes

Popeyes’ franchising site is one page set for North America, not a Canada-specific one. It describes the brand as founded in 1972 with “over 2,700 restaurants in North America” and says it seeks “savvy entrepreneurs who have a proven track record of operating their own businesses preferably in the QSR industry” (as published, read Oct 22, 2026). The page has a frequently-asked-questions list that includes “How much will it cost to open a Popeyes?”, but the answers were collapsed and did not appear in the text we read, so this page quotes no cost figure. The facts table shows each item a franchisor could publish and marks the ones we did not find.

The approval process

Popeyes lists five steps: apply online, a discovery call, an application review covering “QSR operations expertise, background/credit checks, business plan, and legal entity documentation”, an in-person leadership team interview, and final approval, after which a franchisee would “begin franchisee training and site selection process” (as published, read Oct 22, 2026). Its application form asks for personal information, growth information, current financials, operations experience and ownership structure. No training length is stated. Whether someone buying an existing restaurant goes through all of this is a question for Popeyes.

Where Popeyes is developing

Popeyes says it is “currently looking to develop throughout the United States and Canada” and that the areas it wants “are consistently being updated”. It publishes no list of Canadian towns or provinces. Deavo’s Popeyes listings on Oct 20, 2026 were in Ontario (9).

Buying an existing Popeyes

Popeyes’ franchising site does not mention existing restaurants for sale, and it does not say whether a sale by a current franchisee needs its approval, so ask Popeyes. See who has to approve a franchise resale and what a transfer fee is, and the sub-page on buying an existing unit.

Disclosure law where Popeyes is listed

Ontario, the only province with Popeyes listings, has a franchise disclosure statute. Popeyes itself states that “an offer to sell a franchise can only be made through delivery of a Franchise Disclosure Document”. Where the statute applies, late or missing disclosure can give a buyer a right to rescind, and that right runs on a deadline, so keep the date you actually receive the document.

Ontario

Arthur Wishart Act (Franchise Disclosure), 2000 — the franchisor must deliver a disclosure document at least 14 days before you sign anything or pay any money.
