Farm Credit Canada (FCC) financing
Farm Credit Canada financing is lending from FCC, whose purpose under the Farm Credit Canada Act is to provide business and financial services to farming operations and to rural businesses related to farming. Its primary focus must be farming operations, including family farms.
Buyers of farms and farm-related businesses may come across FCC as a lender. Section 4 of the Farm Credit Canada Act says its purpose is to enhance rural Canada by providing specialized and personalized business and financial services and products to farming operations, including family farms, and to businesses in rural Canada, including small and medium-sized businesses, that are related to farming.
What FCC says it finances
FCC’s land and buildings page offers loans for buying land or adding a building, and its agriculture financing page lists options for producers such as input and livestock financing. A business that is not related to farming may fall outside the Act’s purpose, so check eligibility with FCC first.
