What happens to unfinished laser hair removal packages when I buy a clinic?
Clients with part-used courses are still owed their sessions, so settle in the purchase agreement who honours them. Count the sessions outstanding, make sure treatment records and device settings come across so care can continue safely, and ask how earlier specials were sold. Your lawyer can advise on any consumer-law questions.
A laser hair removal course runs over many visits, so on any given day a clinic has clients who have paid and are partway through. Unlike a spa gift card that might never be used, these clients expect to come back and finish. When a clinic changes hands, you are likely to be the one they come back to. Plan for that before you sign.
Count the sessions that are owed
Ask the seller for a list showing each client, the course they bought, the sessions used and the sessions left. Check it against the booking system and the payment records. The total is time on your devices and your technicians’ calendars that is already paid for. It should be part of how you think about the clinic’s coming months, and the numbers should match what the seller says.
Say in writing who honours them
The purchase agreement should state clearly who delivers the remaining sessions and how any adjustment is handled. Some buyers agree to honour every course; others negotiate an adjustment for the work still owed. A lawyer can draft the wording and tell you whether consumer-protection rules apply to these prepaid courses.
Carry over records and settings
To continue a client’s course safely, technicians need the treatment records: the sessions done, the settings used, how the skin responded and any notes. Ask how those records are kept and whether they can be handed over with client consent. Our page on what to check before buying a laser hair removal clinic lists related checks.
Specials sold before closing
Ask about any promotion, discounted course or bundle sold in the months before closing. If many were sold at a deep discount, the sessions left may be costly to deliver. Compare with how prepaid spa packages and gift certificates are handled when a spa sells.
