What is an unclaimed listing?

An unclaimed listing is a business profile on Deavo that was created from a public advertisement rather than by the owner signing up directly, and it stays marked unclaimed until the actual owner verifies who they are and takes ownership of it. Claiming an unclaimed listing is free and gives the owner full control over it.

Not every listing on Deavo started with the owner creating an account. Some businesses appear because they already had a public advertisement elsewhere, and a listing was added for them, clearly marked as unclaimed, so the business can still be discovered by buyers while it waits for its actual owner to take control.

Why unclaimed listings exist at all

Many small business owners who would genuinely benefit from more buyer exposure never get around to creating a listing themselves, often because they are focused on running the business or simply do not know the option exists. An unclaimed listing gives that business a presence buyers can find in the meantime, without assuming anything about whether the owner is actively trying to sell.

What an unclaimed listing looks like to a buyer

It follows the same blind-listing rules as any other listing: general industry and location detail is public, identifying information is gated, and the same industry intelligence panel and screening apply. The unclaimed label is simply a disclosure that this particular listing has not yet been verified and taken over by the business’s actual owner.

What claiming changes

Once the real owner verifies who they are and claims the listing, it becomes an owned listing under their full control: they can edit the description, manage photos, decide what stays gated, and respond directly to any buyer interest that came in while it was unclaimed. Nobody else can claim a listing that is not theirs to claim.

Nothing about an unclaimed listing costs anything

Finding, claiming and then managing a listing is free, consistent with how the whole platform works in its current version. An owner loses nothing by claiming a listing that already exists for their business, and gains the ability to control exactly what it says and shows.
