What Eggsmart publishes

Eggsmart’s opportunities page sets out a development cost budget that adds up to $820,000.00, starting with a $35,000.00 initial franchise fee and a $5,000.00 training fee. It also publishes a royalty of 5% of all sales per week and an advertising fee of “as little as 3% per week” (as published, read Oct 22, 2026). Those figures describe opening a new restaurant. The page says development costs do not include working capital, opening inventory, rent and utility deposits or legal expenses. Eggsmart’s own pages also say “over 45 locations” and “No experience is required!”

Buying an existing Eggsmart

Eggsmart’s opportunities page has an “Existing Opportunities” heading naming two stores, one in Toronto and one in Whitby, each labelled “Existing Store”. Deavo marks a franchisor’s new-location advertisement with a “New-location opportunity” badge. Eggsmart’s pages do not say what it must approve when a franchisee sells, so ask for the transfer terms in the franchise agreement. See who has to approve a franchise resale and what a transfer fee is.

Training and opening

Eggsmart’s training page says each new franchisee “is required to attend a training course four weeks” of about 50 hours a week. Its opportunities page lists a “3-Week Training Program”, so the two pages disagree. Ask which applies to you. Eggsmart’s pages do not say whether a resale buyer repeats the programme, so ask that too: does buying a resale require retraining?

Financing

Eggsmart says financing is “available through government-supported small business loans, or we can facilitate financing for qualified candidates”, and its FAQ recommends a minimum cash investment of at least 40%. It names no lender. For how Canadian franchise purchases are financed in general, see can a franchise purchase be financed?

Where Eggsmart is expanding

Eggsmart’s “Available Markets” list names communities in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Deavo’s Eggsmart listings on Oct 20, 2026 were in Ontario (3). The full list is on Eggsmart’s opportunities page, cited below.

Disclosure law where Eggsmart is listed

All one provinces with Eggsmart listings have franchise disclosure statutes. Late, deficient or missing disclosure can give a franchisee a statutory right to rescind, and that right runs on a deadline. Eggsmart’s steps-to-ownership page says an applicant is given a copy of its Franchise Disclosure Document after preliminary approval. Keep the date you receive it: under Ontario’s Arthur Wishart Act (Franchise Disclosure), 2000, rescission for late or deficient disclosure must come no later than 60 days after receiving the disclosure document (s.6(1)), and where none was ever provided, no later than two years after entering into the franchise agreement (s.6(2)).

Ontario

Arthur Wishart Act (Franchise Disclosure), 2000 — the franchisor must deliver a disclosure document at least 14 days before you sign anything or pay any money.
