Buying an INS Market franchise in Canada

INS Market’s franchising page says prospective franchisees “should have approximately $90,000+ in liquid assets” and previous operational or business ownership experience (as published by INS Market, read Oct 22, 2026). It publishes no initial fee or total investment on that page. Deavo listed 13 INS Market listings on Oct 20, 2026, in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec.

INS Market’s liquid-asset figure is a qualifier for applicants, not a purchase price. No fee, total investment, royalty or advertising rate was on the page read; ask for the franchise disclosure document.

What INS Market is

INS Market describes itself as “one of Canada’s most recognizable retail franchises”, with “over 130+ locations” and “30+ years experience in convenience retail”, and says its model “can fit into any size space. From 50 sqft kiosks to 2,500 sqft multi-concept locations” (as published, read Oct 22, 2026). It lists the settings its stores sit in as “mid- and large-size office buildings, transit hubs, malls, hospitals, casinos, busy streets and post-secondary institutions.” These are the franchisor’s own claims about itself; Deavo has not verified the location count.

Who INS Market says it is looking for

The franchising page lists three qualifiers: “approximately $90,000+ in liquid assets”, “previous operational or business ownership experience”, and an “entrepreneurial spirit”. It does not define liquid assets or say how they are counted, so ask. The same page offers a three-step process of an intro call, a meeting and an application, followed by approval, and a downloadable application and presentation (as published, read Oct 22, 2026). The application form asks for a financial statement of assets and liabilities, including net worth, and whether the applicant is interested in a master franchise or area development; it publishes no net-worth minimum.

Buying an existing INS Market

The franchising page we read does not say whether INS Market sells or approves resales of existing stores. The listings below are advertised by sellers or the brokers acting for them, and an asking price is what the advertiser wrote, not an INS Market figure and not a valuation. If a store is a franchised unit, the franchisor’s approval of the buyer is a question to put to INS Market and the seller before you commit. See who has to approve a franchise resale and what a transfer fee is.

Training and opening

INS Market says it has “an in-house dedicated training department, providing future and current franchisees with” support; the sentence is cut off on the page as we read it, and no length or format of training is published, so none is stated here. Ask whether a buyer of an existing store repeats it — does buying a resale require retraining?

Financing

INS Market says it is “happy to provide various credit and financing options for prospective franchise owners” and gives no detail, lender or terms. Ask INS Market what those options are before you rely on them. Deavo’s answer can a franchise purchase be financed? covers the Canada Small Business Financing Program, the Business Development Bank of Canada, conventional lenders and vendor take-backs.

Where INS Market is available

INS Market publishes an “Available Locations” page, summarised on the locations page for this brand. Deavo’s INS Market listings on Oct 20, 2026 were in Ontario (10), Alberta (1), British Columbia (1) and Quebec (1).

Disclosure law where INS Market is listed

Three of the four provinces with INS Market listings have franchise disclosure statutes (Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia); the rest do not. In Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia, where disclosure applies, the statute requires the prospective franchisee to receive the franchisor’s disclosure document at least 14 days before the earlier of signing an agreement relating to the franchise or paying any consideration relating to it (Ontario’s Arthur Wishart Act (Franchise Disclosure), 2000, s.5(1), which says “not less than 14 days”; British Columbia’s Franchises Act, s.5(1); Alberta’s Franchises Act, s.4(2)). Ask it for the fees INS Market does not publish on its franchising page, and keep the date you receive it.
