* The asterisk is Fatburger Canada’s own; the page read shows no explanatory text for it. A row marked “Not published” means the figure was not on the page we read — not that there is no such term.
What the figures include
Fatburger Canada calls the investment range “typical” and says it is less for food courts. It does not say what the range covers line by line, and the cash equity figure carries an asterisk on the page with no explanatory text beside it that we could find. The page gives the total as the cost to build a Fatburger. A resale’s asking price is a different number set by its advertiser, so ask what it covers — the lease, equipment, trading history — rather than comparing it with the build figure. Ask what working capital is needed beyond any figure here.
Royalty and advertising
Fatburger Canada publishes both rates: royalties of 6% and marketing of 3%, split as 2% to a national fund and 1% to local community marketing. It does not say what the percentages are applied to, so check the base in the disclosure document. In Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario the franchise disclosure document — which, where disclosure applies, the franchisor delivers at least 14 days before you sign an agreement or pay, whichever is earlier — is where to check every recurring fee. See what disclosure a resale buyer gets.
Financing a Fatburger purchase
Fatburger Canada names three banks it has relationships with — TD, BMO and RBC — and says each franchisee must qualify for financing on their own merit. It does not publish a lender programme or terms. For other ways Canadian franchise purchases are financed, see can a franchise purchase be financed?

About the Canadian Franchise Association listing
CFA’s directory has a Fatburger listing, read on 22 October 2026, but it shows no member-since year. CFA’s investment figure for Fatburger differs from the franchisor’s own page, so this page quotes Fatburger Canada’s own page and uses CFA for listing and membership only. A directory entry is not proof of current membership, and an absence from it would not be proof of non-membership.
